Sysinternals tools are written by Mark Russinovich and published by Microsoft. They show what Windows normally hides: which process locks a file (Process Explorer, Handle), what a program reads and writes (Process Monitor), what starts with Windows (Autoruns), and which programs hold network connections (TCPView).

The suite is a ZIP archive with portable programs. Nothing is installed: extract it and run the tool you need. It is also available from the Microsoft Store, which keeps the tools updated.

System requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 (some tools also run on older versions and Windows Server)
  • Administrator rights for most tools

How to install

  1. Download SysinternalsSuite.zip (or the ARM64 version for Arm PCs) from Microsoft Learn.
  2. Right-click the ZIP file, select Extract All, and choose a folder such as C:\Tools\Sysinternals.
  3. Run the tool you need, for example procexp64.exe for Process Explorer, and accept the licence on first start.

Download safely

We link only to the publisher's own site and do not host installers or disk images. Avoid "pre-activated" or modified builds and third-party mirrors: they are a common way to spread malware, and they cannot be verified.
